Head of Quant Research Amsterdam, Netherlands Boutique Proprietary Trading Firm Competitive total comp Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship available About the Firm A small, profitable proprietary trading firm operating across global markets, including energy markets, STIR options, and emerging markets such as India and Brazil. HQ in Amsterdam, they are now entering a phase of expansion and are building a dedicated Quant Research function. This is a critical leadership hire to architect and scale the research capability that will underpin the firm’s next stage of growth. Role Overview The Head of Quant Research will establish and lead the firm’s Quant Research desk end-to-end. You will define the research roadmap, build a high-performing team, and partner closely with traders and engineers to create the models, tools, and infrastructure that power the systematic trading strategies. A strong preference will be given to someone who has built or significantly scaled a quant function before and who thrives in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment. Key Responsibilities Build the Quant Research department from scratch, setting strategy, structure, and standards. Recruit, mentor, and develop junior and mid-level quant researchers. Lead research across multiple mid freq assets. Partner with technology to deliver scalable research tooling and production pipelines. Ensure research output translates cleanly into live trading and robust PnL contribution. Requirements Deep experience in the prop trading space or on a quant-heavy trading desk. Proven experience building or scaling a quant research or quant strategy function. Strong programming background (Python required; C++ highly valued). Hands-on experience with options (equity, index, STIR), market-making, or energy markets. Strong background in quantitative modelling, statistics, and research-to-production workflows. Ability to mentor young / early-career quants. Clear communication skills and ability to work directly with traders, PMs, and engineers.
