Geospatial Data Manager (ESRI Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro) for NATO with security clearance – WLG – The Hague

Jobid=632580458126518232 (0.0497)

An international geospatial team needs a data manager who can be trusted with the
whole estate: the geodatabases, the ingestion pipelines, the quality of what comes out the other
end, and the cloud and on-premises services that publish it. This is an on-site assignment in
The Hague, Netherlands.

What you will do

  • Maintain, organise and manage geospatial datasets and their metadata, and develop the
geodatabases and spatial repositories they live in.
  • Run ingestion, transformation, validation and quality assurance — and keep spatial data
integrity, consistency and version control intact.
  • Coordinate backups and archival, and keep documentation current for datasets, workflows and
    system configuration.
  • Support geospatial environments in the cloud and on-premises: deployment, maintenance,
troubleshooting, obsolescence management and secure operation alongside the GIS IT team.
  • Perform spatial analysis — queries, overlays, buffering, proximity analysis, summarisation —
and produce maps and visualisations that people actually make decisions on.
  • Prepare data for modelling and reporting, and generate the standard GIS products.
  • Recommend improvements to workflows and data management practice, and work shoulder to
shoulder with analysts, developers and engineers.

What you bring

  • A degree in geospatial sciences or a related field with two years of relevant experience —
or roughly six years of progressive expertise in this work in place of the degree.
  • At least three years in geospatial data management, and three or more on the ESRI Enterprise
    suite across desktop and server.
  • Five years or more with ArcGIS Pro, including data editing, data management and mosaic
    datasets.
  • Expert-level command of vector and raster manipulation, common raster formats and their
trade-offs, GIS database management and accuracy assessment of high-resolution products.
  • A solid grip on the fundamentals — data types, coordinate systems, projections, metadata —
plus quality assurance and control practice.
  • Expert Excel, familiarity with backup strategies and data transfer protocols, strong
analytical and communication skills, fluent business English.
  • Desirable: ArcGIS Toolbox and ArcPy tool development; ArcGIS Server or Image Server
for publishing and caching OGC services such as WMS and WMTS; tile creation against standard
tiling schemas; enterprise geodatabase design; prior work in an international environment with
    both military and civilian elements.

Why it is worth a conversation

You would join an established international team of geospatial specialists working to
recognised standards, with the autonomy to improve how the data estate is run rather than simply
maintain it.
